Nalean leaned against the wooden pole of the fence, watching the horses grazing peacefully. Watching them graze allowed her to briefly forget that a war was happening. The horses were completely oblivious to the dangers of a world they did not belong to. Horses were not animals that were known to possess magical qualities although in appearance they resembled a unicorn, minus the horn. She knew they had no magical properties, yet horses had always been an animal that seemed almost magical in the way they interacted with humans and other horses.
Nalean took a step back from the fence, and yawned. How long had she been standing, leaning against the fence watching the horses? Surely either Silisia or Connor would be back by now? She walked back towards the cottage and entered the empty kitchen. She looked in all the rooms and frowned to herself. There was no one in the house, she was alone. This made her frown once again. She had spent enough time in her father's basement being alone, she certainly didn't need anymore alone time now. She walked out through the back door once again. She stood by the fence again watching the horses graze. If she had known where either Silisia or Connor had gone, she would have gone looking for them. To be honest at the moment she didn't even know where to start, and she was scared that she might run into a deatheater. She might have been a pureblood, but she wasn't certain if she had been labelled as a blood traitor or not. Nalean wasn't about to find out the hard way. She wouldn't be able to fight against Voldemort and his deatheaters dead.
A little bay pony walked up to her and lipped her pockets, obviously looking for something to eat. Nalean smiled at this and turned back to the house. She searched the kitchen for any horse-friendly treats. She grabbed an apple and sliced it up so that she could feed more than one horse. She walked back to the horses and fed the pony a piece before she fed the others. She giggled when a chestnut coloured horse sniffed her hair and whiffed gently on her neck. She wanted to stay in that paddock forever and forget about everything that was happening in the wizarding world. As much as she wanted to, she knew that would never happen.
