Special Abilities

Animagus || five availiable
&bull Animagi are witches/wizards with the ability to transform into an animal of their choosing. It s a rare ability and takes years to master.

Occlumens || none availiable!
&bull Occlumens is the defense against Legilimens. It's the ability to block your mind, keeping intruders out. An Occulumens has to be able to supress his or her emotions and thoughts, so a very impulsive character will not be able to master this skill. If you are an Occlumens it does not mean you are also a Legilimens.

Legilimens|| three availiable
&bull Basically, a Legilimens is an ability that enables one to search a mind for thoughts and memories. Being a Legilimens does not mean you are also a Occlumens.

Seer || one availiable
&bull Seers range from being just extremely intuitive, to being able to have actual visions or make predictions of the future. They use such methods as reading tea leaves and gazing into crystal balls to predict the future. Often a Seer will go into a trance to make their prediction, and will not recall making it afterwords (think Trelawney). Simpler visions can be had during meditation or in the form of dreams. Seer abilities are genetic, but usually don't show up in everyone in the line. The abilities start showing up early, and the signs start off small. Just vague feelings or unclear dreams. As the person gets older, their abilities continue developing and getting stronger.

[SEVERUS SNAPE]

Name: Severus Snape
Ability: Occlumens
How they came to possess the ability: Severus Snape was born a natural Occlumens. He was conditioned from his early childhood to block certain aspects of his home life (mainly the fact that Tobias abused him); forbidden to reach out for aide, he turned to the only thing that was available to him at the time: pushing it all away. His Magic responded to this desire, creating a barrier between Snape's conscious and subconscious. He was then later taught by Albus Dumbledore how to use Occlumency to its full potential when he became a Spy. Occlumency has further served Severus by providing him with his so-called boxes and the ability to switch modes/masks whenever he needs to. Being a natural Occlumens means his shields are rarely impenetrable and he can withstand prolonged mental attacks, even from the likes of Voldemort.

name: Kyros Trezio
ability: Occlumens and Legilimens
how they came to possess the ability:
Kyros has always been pretty good at keeping his thoughts to himself. He hardly ever lets his feelings show in his face, and his mind has always been his safe haven, a place where he can be himself and not put on an act for those in his presence.

Kyros trained himself in the art of Occlumens and all other mind magic when he was at Hogwarts. He scoured the Library for books on the subject, and read them all until his mind was securely locked from all intruders. After he joined the Death Eaters and began his service to the Dark Lord, Voldermort himself taught Kyros the art of Occlumens further, helping him keep out anyone who dared attack his mind. Voldemort also taught Kyros how to attack with his mind, with the art of Legilimency, and as such, Kyros almost always knows when he is being lied to.

name: Minerva McGonagall
ability: Animagus
how they came to possess the ability: At an unspecified time, most likely in the search to better and further herself in the field of transfiguration, Minerva managed to transfigure herself into the form of an animal that became her animagus. She registered with the ministy of magic that the form her her animagus is a small tabby cat with silvery grey square markings around its eyes, much like the square specticals she wears in her normal state. The professor enjoyed during her time as transfiguration teacher to entertain her students by demonstrating her shifting into her animagus mid-jump. She feels terribly proud of her ability.

how they came to possess the ability:She could remember that night more vividly than any other night of her entire life. She lived outside of town, near the woods, because her parents always loved the outdoors. She remembered going outside to look at the full moon with her mother, at which point the two started a giggle filled game of tag. At eleven, she was starting to outgrow the idea of spending such silly times with her mom, but that night was too perfect to miss. And so they played, running around in the woods, shrieking and laughing whenever the other one got caught. Taylor ran further into the woods until she could no longer see the lights of her house. She heard crunches of grass, foot steps, in the distance, and hunkered down, ready to tag. She got closer to the noise, and the footsteps started walking towards her. Suddenly, she heard her mother call in the distance that it was time to go inside, and part of her froze.

It happened too quickly for her to respond. In an instant, she was on the ground, wind knocked out of her, incredible pain in her side. She remembered fur, saliva, growls, and screams. Her mother came to the rescue almost immediately, but she didn’t stand a chance. Taylor’s last memory of that night was the echoing of her mothers cries for help and the confusion of why there was so much blood, so much blood.

It was a long and hard road to become one, but he and his best friends still did it. Becoming an animagus was part of their plan to help their friend, Remus since he was a werewolf. Maybe it was because they were young or maybe it was because they wanted to help their friend. They were Gryffindors after all and being reckless and loyal was part of the package. Sirius chose a big, very big black dog. They needed to be big animals since they had to make sure they would be able to stop the werewolf if it went berserk. And James always said his hairdue reminded him of a dog and a dog fit Sirius' personality perfectly; he was loyal and happy as any dog would be.

how they came to possess the ability: Cassie always had a Passion for animal tranformations. Werewolfs, Bats, you name it, she read about it. So great was this love, that she decided in her first year when she was able to become on she'd be come a Animagus. well, when she had the chance, She snapped it up choosing An english bulldog as hers. not the most intimidating animal, but cassie's stuborn like a bulldog. As of this time and date she's still learning how to do it properly, and still has a little trouble.

[DASHA TATIANA DOLOHOV]

name: Dasha Dolohov

abilities: Occlumens. Dasha was trained by her brother Dmitri in the art of Occlmency. Her father was a good Occlumens and had taught his son. Vlad, Dasha's other brother never mastered the art, but Dasha was able to pick it up relatively easily, her mind not ever being in a one-thought process. She was taught from her first year at Hogwarts- she and Dmitri would use one of the prefect rooms (Vlad was a prefect) to practice.

Seer. Two generations ago, Dasha's maternal grandmother was a Seer. By the time she had reached her old age she was able to prophesise about the future. Dasha, on the other hand, still young, has only strange dreams and illogical thoughts to go by. She can also go into a trance-like stake at any time and sees visions which used to be blurry but now are sharper and clearer. Lord Voldemort knows of this gift and is always ready to hear if Dasha has seen anything of importance.

ability: Werewolf and Occlumens (I have a good argument for this Just hear me out)
how they came to possess the ability:

Remus was bitten at the age of five by the notorious Fenrir Greyback. It was an act of retaliation and intimidation, one meant to permenantly humiliate his father and to put a halt to ministry legislation that would inevitably confine werewolves to special facilities during the full moon. Rems still remembers every detail of that night, from the bone white moon in the empty July sky, the terrible howling and the pair of burning golden eyes, watching him. It used to be a common nightmare of his when he was a child. Nowadays it only tends to surface in his dreams if he's already plagued down by worries.

As for Remus and his occlumency, Remus has always had a natural talent for blocking things out. It was a necessity of his existance, to force himself to ignore or forget about the approaching moon, otherwise the fear of the transformation would have long since frayed his mind. He's always been able to seperate his innermost thoughts from his outermost self and when he first learned about the art of occlumency and leglimency, he decided to study the former.
(On a strictly literary sense, Remus as an occlumens makes sense. He was able to guard his mind against Snape when they were working together at Hogwarts. Snape had a hard time reading Lupin, to the point where he grew to suspect that Remus' efforts at closing off his mind must mean that he was somehow helping Sirius. There's this really excellent essay here that argues a sound case, if you feel up to reading ^^)

name: Vanessa (Nessie) Black
ability: Metamorphmagus
how they came to possess the ability: Even though she's a muggle-born she's very distantly related to the Tonks and the ability somehow got passed down to her. Her parents did everything they could to make her 'seem normal' and they ended up home schooling her and keeping her shut up in the house for a good bit of her elementary school life. This eventually became unnecessary once she got older. If she did not have the metamorphmagus power, her parents probably would not have let her go to Hogwarts at all, for fear of her being hurt. (they heard voldemort stories from a wizard who married into the family a few years back, and they're actually very well informed.) Now Nessie uses her abilities to stay hidden in the forbidden forest.

ability: Legilimens
how they came to possess the ability:
While the Dark Lord sought out more recruits as his first arm built up, Lucius, being in his inner circle was taught dark magic from none other than Voldemort himself. While he may have dabbled in the dark arts while attending Hogwarts and during his time in the Slug club, his cunning and desire for control lead him to bestow upon Lucius and a few others the art of searching one's mind and memories to gain power over those weaker than he or any of his forces.

Name; Narcissa Malfoy neé Black
Ability;

Dark Arts: Narcissa was described as a Dark Witch by her former house-elf so she could have possibly been a practitioner of the Dark Arts.
Occlumency: Though never stated clearly, it is implied that Narcissa was an Occlumens, and probably a very skilled one, due to her ability to lie to Voldemort himself, the most accomplished Legilimens of his time. However, Voldemort may not have been using Legilimency when Narcissa lied about Harry's death.
Duellist: Though not as powerful as her prodigious sister, Narcissa was able to competently duel Harry Potter and Ron Weasley and she came out of the duel unharmed.
