There was something comforting about the muggle world. It was almost like playing pretend, her being back in a time when she didn't know about witches and wizards and werewolves and the Dark Lord. The way the muggles walked around obviously to what was going on almost made her jealous, but she would leave them be. It never ceased to amaze her how quiet this war could be from them. Yes, there were plenty of deaths, but somehow it got covered up, lied about. These people had no idea. Taylor pushed open the door of a muggle coffee shop where Cassie was sure to meet her. She sat down at a table near the back and shrugged off her black peacoat. Coffee was a good idea.
As she waited for her friend, she glanced over the menu halfheartedly. She couldn't shake the feeling in the back of her mind, the feeling that these people were sitting ducks. But it was better to meet here than on wizarding property. Death Eaters weren't stupid enough to terrorize muggles in broad daylight, at least not yet, so the two would be safe enough. How easy would it be to just disappear into the muggle world, leaving all of the hectic war behind? Taylor shook those thoughts from her head as she went up to the counter to order something she probably wouldn’t like. She returned to her table, now waiting for both her drink and Cassie. The thought of Cassie made her even more weary. She was just a child. Headstrong, yes, but still a child. This world wasn’t a good place for children.

Cassie was tired. 4 am wake up calls and partying all night had taken it's toll, but still the smell of coffee was alluring. She opened the door to the coffee shop and smiled at the Barista. "morning Sophie! can i get a double shot mocha latte Decaf?" that's when she saw Taylor and smiled. "make that 2, one regular and one Decaf" Sophie cracked a smile, the two girls always met for coffee, and always ordered the same thing. Two old freinds they were, forced together by a common bond, both had attended Hogwarts before the fall. "hey taylor, be right with you. lemme pay for the coffee's ok?" She said waving. She knew that Taylor would say she shouldn't have the coffee, but she needed something to keep her sanity in these times. As she paid and picked up the two coffees, Cassie was smiling. Lately, she'd been feeling icky. ever since reggie found out she was pregant he'd been avoiding her, so that ment she needed to hide out for a bit. going home was not an option, Neither was staying at reg's place anymore, but she could always ask taylor if she could crashed at the order's hq, known to taylor and Cassie as " HQ" and crash there for a bit. Plus, it never hurt that Black and Lupin were around the house, and it was good to talk to them. She hadn't told any of the order, other then taylor, about her condition. they'd be worrying about her sleeping under the same roof as death eaters, and that her life would be in danger, not that it wasn't already. Cassie didn't fit in with the rest of the DE crew, and seriously... She was partly glad for it.

Cassie was as bright and shiny as ever. The girl had an ease to her steps, the way she flowed and was comfortable around others. It put Taylor at ease, if only for a while. But the more Taylor watched her, the more curious she became of Cassie's emotional state. It couldn't be easy being pregnant, and Taylor was certain that Cassie's guardians didn't know about the child having a child. The father, from what Cassie had told her, wasn't paying much attention to her, something that Taylor could understand but also knew wasn't very helpful to the situation. So if she wasn't at home, and she wasn't with Reggie, then where was she sleeping? Taylor made a mental note to subtly bring that up in the conversation at some point.
When Cassie sat down with the coffees, Taylor smiled at her and handed her the money, despite Cassie saying that she'd pay for it. Where was she getting money anyways? The girl's living condition worried her further. Taylor's own income came from obscure part-time muggle jobs that never lasted long because she took too many sick days around the full moon. It was easier than being fired for her condition, she supposed. Either way, she was tight on money, but she could afford to sit and have coffee with the Malfoy's black sheep.
Taylor wore a genuine smile, glad to be in company. “No, its alright,” she said, pushing the money towards Cassie, “You’ve got to start saving up. Also, coffee probably isn’t the best thing for you, but I suppose I’ll let it slide this time.”

Cassie sighed. "ok ok. it's not like i'm broke or anything, and i REALLY need someone to talk to right now. Reggie and i had a fight. He wants to join the death eaters, i want him to join the order, and he called you guys a bunch of sissies that were going to lose and i hit him and i walked out.. i spent the night at the three broomsticks inn, and then i came here. Was i wrong to walk out? Taylor, reg and i have nada in common anymore, just the fact it's his kid i'm carrying. where did it all go?" She said taking her coffee and waiting for Taylor to get hers and for them to walk to the back of the cafe and talk more.
Cassie Loved her boyfriend so much, but the whole war thing was tearing them apart, and Cassie really wanted to stay with him, if not for the obvious reasons, then for the fact if she didn't end up being cut out of the family, she most certainly would if it got out that she was an order member and she really needed any help she could right now.

There were a lot of things that Taylor had expected Cassie to say. It was obvious that she needed some help, but she didn’t expect her to blurt everything out at once. Then again, this was Cassie. "ok ok. it's not like i'm broke or anything, and i REALLY need someone to talk to right now. Reggie and i had a fight. He wants to join the death eaters, i want him to join the order, and he called you guys a bunch of sissies that were going to lose and i hit him and i walked out.. i spent the night at the three broomsticks inn, and then i came here. Was i wrong to walk out? Taylor, reg and i have nada in common anymore, just the fact it's his kid i'm carrying. where did it all go?"After Cassie finished her spiel, Taylor blinked. She grabbed her coffee, walked to the back of the café, sat down, and blinked once more. The bits of sentences went over in her head twice more before she finally looked at Cassie. A lot of this didn’t make sense. Sure, she had met Reggie a few times, and he seemed like an alright kid, but if he was interested in joining up with Voldemort, then that wasn’t the kind of influence Cassie needed. Taylor almost felt a bit sick listening to teenaged drama. There was a damn war going on, and people were still worrying about name calling? It brought her back to her years at Hogwarts, when she would listen to her friends rant about how so and so wouldn’t ask them to the next trip to Hogsmeade. The wave of nostalgia passed as Taylor processed the information. “Cassie, I really don’t think you and Reggie need to be seeing each other. At all. There are more important things at hand than whether or not you should stay with someone who obviously isn’t good for you. You don’t… I mean…” she sighed and tried again. “Stay at my place tonight. We can work out whatever arrangements need to be made for the baby. Have you put much thought into that?” She reflected over her words, and frowned at herself. Here she was, just seconds ago, worrying about Cassie because she was still just a child, and now she was trying to discourage her from childish things like boyfriend drama and name calling? This was going to give her a head ache.

Cassie sighed. " yeah i know i'm acting like a spoiled brat right now." she said "But something is telling me that i should have married that guy when i had my chance." she said with a sad looking in her eyes. " i swear this war is going to be the death of me. or my heart at least. Seriously taylor, if i were to point my wand at myself and avada myself would i even be missed?" She asked with a serious tone in her voice, and dead pan face.
Cassie was totally serious about using the killing curse. She'd seen it used enough times, and now she was thinking about using it herself. at least i'd be with potter and my parents and james and lilly.... yeah... that'd be all nice. Green light and then darkness. she thought to herself. and i wouldn't have to deal with my horrid transfiguration problems and i wouldn't splinch myself when i apperated! But on the down side i'm sure people would miss me. Taylor, Sirius. Prof. Lupin would miss me, Snape i'm sure wouldn't. he's to damn wrapped up in himself and being a death eater! I swear i saw him with those beasts. "Taylor, help me..." was all she said out of her mouth. " i can't do this alone.."
