distinguising features,
Some would say his striking gray eyes, but some would argue it's his prestige posture. But the truth is, the most distinguish feature is his face. Even though Azkaban changed his face into a waxy and pale, after escaping, it has returned to it's handsome and young face. You can't argue that Sirius has very handsome face and that's the thing most people see first.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

best kept secret,
even though he keeps his emotions and secrets to himself, there's one thing that he hasn't shared to anyone, not even to Harry. Sirius, even though being very wild and uncontrollable in his youth, would want a family. It's very hard to see him as a family man and even though there's a war going on, a family who he could protect and be would be something thrilling.
patronus,
just like his animagus, Sirius' patronus is a big black dog.
boggart,
The day he heard that Lily and James were dead. That day was the day he wouldn't want to relive no matter what. Sirius thought that he could protect James' and Lily's son, but failed miserably.

overall personality,
True to a Gryffindor student's ideals, Sirius was and is still very brave and very loyal, as shown by his willingness to die for those he love. He's a talented and clever wizard. But Sirius’s overall attitude towards life is one of complete nonchalance. He attended classes when he felt like it, always earning good marks if ever he feels the rare urge to apply himself. It’s completely undeniable that Sirius is a clever man; the attitude towards learning is what sets him back. Although the teachers find it incredibly frustrating, they often let him slide for one simple reason. He simply would not show; there is no possible way to force him to do anything. Not even detention would do the trick, for more often than not, Sirius finds himself buried chin-deep in such threats or appointments. The number of said detentions he’s actually attended, however, could probably be counted on one hand.
As for the reason he’s constantly being ordered towards some sort of punishment, Sirius is easily described by staff and students alike as the epitome of a trickster. More often than not, he’s off doing something deviously funny. Although most of the time they’re innocent pranks, Sirius has had several close calls with potentially life-threatening tricks. Really, it’s a miracle no one has been seriously hurt (by his definition, anyway) yet. These acts, both innocent and no-so, are usually completed with the help of his best friend and partner-in-crime, James Potter.
A fiercely loyal companion, Sirius has often been described as the best friend a boy could ask for. He’d be more than willing to sacrifice his life for his closest friends, if it all came down to it. The loyalty doesn’t extend just to people, however. Sirius is incredibly faithful to his school, and his house in particular. He supports any cause he truly believes in with an unmatched zeal many admire. This often gets him into trouble, however, as his loyalty can often cause him to do rash things. Brave things, most times; but rash, nonetheless. Perhaps this, among other things, was why he was placed in Gryffindor, instead of Slytherin, where the rest of his family was always sorted.
But after his best friends death and after Azkaban, Sirius changed. His usually happy, care-free attitude changed into somewhat more darker. He kept things to himself and began to see the world as dark as it is now. Not that he would give up, oh no, that's definitely not Sirius' style. But unfortunately for him, he has a tendency to get depressed very easily. And now, when he lost his grandson, you could say he fell into the depths.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

overall history,
Sirius Orion Black was the first born of Orion and Walburga Black, one of the infamous Black couples that prided on their Slytherin roots and pureblood family tree. It was a cold January night that he was welcomed into the world. The little boy was the couple's pride and joy, with his father's dark hair and his mother's gray eyes. The whole family spoiled the infant, which was easy for a rich family like the Blacks. Bellatrix, Sirius, and Andromeda were the prize jewels of the family; they were dressed up and shown off like little pets. When Sirius was about one and half or two, his brother Regulus was born. Another cousin, Narcissa, was brought into the world as well. No one could have guessed it at the time, but Sirius would end up different from all of them.
It wasn't obvious at first. Sirius' parents were certain they were raising two Slytherin sons, not just one. Sirius was tutored in all subjects as he grew into a handsome but impish child. He hated his lessons and often hid around the Grimmauld Place, determined to be lost and miss the day's teachings. He also was notorious for playing pranks and tricks on the various house elves that served the family, which often got him into more trouble than it was worth. As he grew, his father often lectured him about the Black family ideals. "Toujours pur," he father would recite to him at the ed of his pureblood-reigning speeches. But although he was taught to view anything but pureblood as "scum", he couldn't help but question it, even as a child. Still, his parents drilled the ideas into his head, and sent him off to Hogwarts believing him to be the Slytherin prince of the family.
Sirius' first memory of Hogwarts isn't actually in the castle, but on the train on the way to the school. The train had been packed, and although he had Bellatrix to guide him, she had scampered off with some of her friends and left him to find a seat alone. So he stumbled into the first compartment he found, and was greeted by three other boys. One with messy dark hair and glass named James Potter. Another, with some healing cuts on his face but a genuine smile named Remus Lupin. And the last, a mousy boy named Peter Pettigrew. They were his first friends in Hogwarts, and they would become his best friends, the three people in the world he would die for if he had to.
When they made it to the castle to be sorted, he watched his three new friends be sorted into Gryffindor, the house of the brave. He heard his name called, and made his way up to the stool. His father and mother's voice continuously echoed in his mind as he mentally argued with the Sorting Hat. Oh, but you're not like them, are you my boy? Not one bit of you is a Slytherin. Half of him pleaded to be sorted into the house of the snake, just to make his parents happy. But no, he knew that wasn't who he truly was. He had never felt right with his family. The Hat knew better, and placed him into Gryffindor. This is where you truly belong.
Of course, relations with his family went downhill from there. The family owl dropped a Howler on his lap the next day, and the whole Great Hall heard his mother screaming and cursing at him for being a failure of a son. Bellatrix stopped socializing with him completely. He supposed it was to be expected though, and it only got worse as he grew older. Holidays home from school were hell, usually ending up in screaming matches and bruises from his father's or mother's hand. He found family instead in his best friends, which he grew even closer to when discovering the secret of Remus - a werewolf. Determined to help their friend, he and James figured out how to become Animagus in their fifth year. His, with no surprise, was a huge black dog. The four eventually nicknamed each other based off their forms - Moony for Remus, Prongs for James, Wormtail for Peter, and Padfoot for himself. When Remus would change every full moon, the four would explore the Hogwarts grounds and spend the night wrestling and having fun. Somehow, they realized, it helped keep Moony in check. With all their knowledge of Hogwarts, the boys made the Marauder's Map, which again and again helped keep their arses out of trouble.
James and Sirius became quite the duo in their short five years at Hogwarts, constantly causing trouble throughout the castle. Their names were always whispered within a group of giggling girls, and Sirius loved the attention. He loved being noticed and being wanted. Of course, the reputation as one of the biggest bad boys and players at Hogwarts was nice, too. He had everything he could possibly want - friends, looks, popularity.
But his issues with his family always remained, bothering him, causing sad days and sleepless nights. His cousins, except for Andi, wanted nothing to do with him. His family considered him a traitor, especially after they found out his best friend was a Potter. His brother, who he always had an overpowering need to protect and take care of, pretended he didn't exist. There were days when he would go inside himself so much, not eating, not really talking, just thinking. His friends knew of his family issues, but not the worst things - the rage of his father, the spite of his mother, the glares of his brother. Those were the things that ruined him. But his friends knew when he would get into those moods, and would leave him be. Soon he would snap out of it and be the arrogant, charming Sirius everyone knew. People were curious, but never asked.
It wasn't until the summer before his sixth year that things finally reached a breaking point. He had unwillingly returned home for the summer, back to his father's abusive nature and mother's screaming fits. He hated it. He hated the way they spoke of other people. He hated the dark, despicable things that they were doing. He heard them talk about it, something of a "dark lord" and the extermination of "mudbloods". The thought terrified him, but his father said the only way to stay a part of the family was to join them, this new dark magic group forming. He refused. And after an explosive fight with his father, he gathered as much of his things he could and ran away. His family disowned him, burning his name off the family tree as he walked out the door. Eventually, he showed up at the Potter's doorstep, and they welcomed him in for the summer. He was grateful for them, but couldn't bring himself to explain everything to James. Just another Black family secret.
After joining the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius found himself roiling with mistrust and stress due to the great terror that was Lord Voldemort. It took its toll — by October 1981, he no longer trusted his old friend Remus Lupin, suspecting he was a spy and excluding him from important information. However, he trusted Peter Pettigrew implicitly, a decision he would grow to regret for the rest of his life.
In 1981, the Potters were aware that Harry, along with the son of Alice and Frank Longbottom, two other Order members, had become Lord Voldemort's specific targets. Albus Dumbledore advised the Potters to go into hiding using the Fidelius Charm, which Dumbledore hoped would conceal them from doom. James was adamant about Sirius being their Secret-Keeper, believing that Sirius would willingly die rather than reveal where they were. However, believing Voldemort would suspect him, Sirius suggested a "weak, talentless thing" — Peter Pettigrew — instead. Keeping everyone else, including Remus Lupin and Albus Dumbledore, in the dark, Sirius and the Potters reassigned Pettigrew to be Secret-Keeper with Sirius as a decoy.
On a night 1981, Sirius went to Pettigrew’s hiding place and found him missing. Unsettled by the missing signs of a struggle, Sirius frantically sped to Godric's Hollow, discovering the Potters' house destroyed and his friends dead; only baby Harry was still alive. When Rubeus Hagrid appeared on the scene to rescue Harry, on Dumbledore's orders, Sirius offered to take Harry himself. However, Hagrid told him that Dumbledore had made arrangements to send Harry to Lily's sister, Petunia. Sirius conceded, and gave Hagrid his flying motorcycle, telling him he wouldn't need it; nevertheless, after Hagrid had handed over the baby, he intended to return Black his bike. After leaving Godric's Hollow, Sirius tracked Pettigrew down, determined to kill him in vengeance. However, Pettigrew outwitted Black: confronted by Sirius on a city street, he created a huge explosion which enabled him to fake his own death, leaving a severed finger behind as evidence, and killed twelve Muggles in the process. Sirius was arrested by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and was sentenced without trial to Azkaban for the murder of Pettigrew and the twelve Muggles, for giving the information about the Potters' whereabouts which lead to their death and for being in the service of Lord Voldemort. He would spend the next twelve years in solitary confinement at the mercy of the Azkaban guards, the Dementors.
Those twelve years were like a real life nightmare. Sirius suffered, but the thing that kept him going, was the image of James and Remus laughing and maybe one day he would be able to see them again. Dementors sucked every happy thought from him which ended up him thinking about death day by day. He wanted to die. He didn't have anything to come back, he didn't have any family waiting for him. But his escape was legendary to say the least. In 1993, he became the first known person to ever escape from the wizard prison of Azkaban. After several trying years in Azkaban, Sirius regained enough strength to tranform into his Animagus form. The simpler dog mind of this form proved less affected by the Dementors, who in turn had difficulty sensing the animal's emotions.
Dumbledore offered him a place to hide after he was out. Sirius was able to see Harry more. Even though he wasn't able to protect him, he tried his best. He wasn't a free man, so everything he did had to be done with caution. Extra caution. Sirius thought he was able to keep Harry safe. But he wasn't. Harry died. Under Sirius' nose. Voldemort rose again. The whole situation was like a painful deja-vu. Sirius Black was once again recruited into the Order of Phoenix but this time, he couldn't do anything. He was locked inside of his own parents house, he was locked into a house he grew up and hated. Sirius still blames Harry's death on himself which doesn't really help his depression at all. Voldemort is back and Sirius can't do anything but sit and wait.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It wasn't that hard to understand. Not to a normal person at least. But was John one of the normal ones around? Five years ago, Christmas was nothing but fun and joy. It was December 24th 1982. It was just about the time when little Dean was supposed to get to bed, but how could a four-year old get sleep when he knew that Santa was coming and bringing presents? John and Mary had a hard time putting Dean to bed. The boy would jump on his bed and exclaim about presents or sing Christmas carols and giggling while John tried to look tough. He never could keep a straight face when Dean was being silly. The boy was simply hilarious. But when the stern voice of Mary's reached to their ears, Dean squirmed under the blankets and with a final giggle, he closed his eyes. John tugged him in, gave him a kiss on his forehead and closed the door. After that, he would head downstairs hands filled with presents. He wasn't Santa, but he knew Dean would think that it was the fat, white bearded old man. But back then, Christmas was also and seeing little Dean's face lit up when he saw the amount of presents he had gotten from the 'Santa'. John and Mary would watch the terrible amount of wrapping paper to be shredded by a small boy, who exclaimed happily when he opened a present that had new baseball glove or a new football. Mary would always wonder how in the name of god can a four year old make such a mess; that wrapping paper was literally everywhere, not just in the living room. But shredded paper would end up in the kitchen or even upstairs. John would help out in the cleaning while Dean kept asking could they go play catch. After the cleaning, breakfast and making sure everything was fine, John and Dean would head out while Mary cleaned the house even though John kept telling her no. After all, she was 5 months pregnant with the Winchester family's new recruit. John hoped for a girl. To balance Dean's rascal behavior. But instead of a girl, The Winchester's received a baby boy. Healthy, beautiful baby boy. They named him Sam. Samuel Winchester, after Mary's father. He was a cute little thing with big eyes and a smile that melted the ex-marine. Sam had Mary's smile and he was mellow than when Dean was a baby. All in all, little baby Sammy, was a bundle of joy. Everything was fine. Everything was perfect. John would work days in the garage and when he got back home, he was greeted by a hug from Dean, a kiss from Mary and a look from baby Sammy.
Everything was perfect. Everything was perfect five years ago. Now, things were completely different. There was no Mary to look after the boys. There was no Mary to make John's day better. There was only this empty feeling inside of him. Mary was gone. He wasn't here anymore and she was killed by someone. Today was Christmas Eve. It was December 24th and it was time when people stayed inside with their family to drink, eat and have fun. But what were the Winchester's doing? That's right, nothing. John, still caught up in somewhere in Wisconsin with Pastor Jim. John had been there just to help and left the boys in yet another motel room and with a promise that their father would be back before they went to sleep. Though at the moment, it looked that John wasn't going to get back to the boys until the 26th. That would definitely ruin this Christmas. Not that they had very spectacular celebrations these days anymore. Just last year, John had clumsily tried to put up a fake christmas tree for the boys to decorate, but he had gotten too frustrated with when it wouldn't bend the right way John wanted to so in the end it was upside down in the trash soon enough. He had promised a better tree for the next Christmas. But that promise was about to get broken. Just like most of the promises John made to his boys. It was hard these days to keep any solid promises, since he had just founded this whole new world of the supernatural. There were things in the shadows that wanted to eat your kidneys or your liver. There were things that actually ate babies. John's journal was bit by bit getting more heavier. Five years of writing nearly everything down was starting to show. That book had become his guide, his friend and his shoulder when ever he felt like he couldn't make it anymore. Well, there was the whiskey bottle too, but John didn't want to touch that while Sam and Dean were around.
Winchester glanced at his friend. They had just salted and burned another stiff. A simple haunting, but still, it took them two days to finish the job. It was strange. John absent-mindedly looked down to his watch. It pointed at five pm. " What're you still doing here, John? We got the job done already." Suddenly Jim asked. " Shouldn't you be with the boys already?" There was a hint of a smirk on his face. Winchester nodded and gave Jim a pat on the shoulder before leaving. His head trying to figure out the quickest way to the motel. Oh and of course, get presents for the boys. John slammed the Impala's door shut and found himself smiling.
Even though he was running late by few hours, he still made good progress. He stopped by couple gas station to stag up some toys(couple slingshots, stuffed toys, a big bag of green army men, a football and plenty of more toys that he could muster up) and other junk. Though wrapping them up was out of the question since 1. John didn't know how to wrap and 2. He would just carry the toys in a plastic bag so Sam and Dean wouldn't see what was in there. But for food, John had to improvise. No Spaggeti'Os, but candy, chips, sodas and candy canes. Wow, wasn't he original. It wasn't exactly the picture perfect Christmas dinner, but it would do. For now. Maybe next Christmas John made an effort to give at least some happy Christmas memories to the boys. After paying and stuffing the things into the Impala, John looked around him. He knew he was missing something else. A Christmas tree. The gas station he was at, had no Christmas tree. Well, expect the very old and that had four or five branches on it, right next to the gas meters. Someone had already decorated it with two or three balls that clearly were too heavy for the poor tree. And on the top there was a shiny, again too heavy for the top, a bright, plastic star. John didn't hesitate, he sauntered, with a hurried speed, to the tree, took a couple looks around him and grabbed it with him. In no time, he was on his way to the motel.
The clock stroke seven pm. It had taken him two whole hours to get to the small motel where Sam and Dean were. Yes, he was late and he hoped that Sammy hadn't fallen asleep yet. But John had a small suspicion that the two little boys were way too excited to go to bed. It was Christmas after all. Papa Winchester gathered all the toys into two big plastic bag and the tree into his other hand. It had started to shed already in the backseat of the Impala, but John would clean it up later. Behind door number 9 was where he had left Sam and Dean. The key turned in the lock and John stumbled in, two heavy plastic bags in his other hand and that old christmas tree hanging from his other hand. John grinned. Any moment now, the two of them would greet him with happy exclaims. Or they were too angry at John for not showing up later. Should he say something?- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
